Titanium is an isomer with a melting point of 1668℃ and a densely arranged hexagonal lattice structure below 882℃. It is called alpha titanium.Above 882℃, it shows a body-centered cubic lattice structure, which is called β-titanium.Taking advantage of the different characteristics of the two structures of titanium and adding appropriate alloying elements, the phase transition temperature and phase fraction content of titanium alloys are gradually changed to obtain different microstructure of titanium alloys.At room temperature, titanium alloys have three kinds of matrix structures, and they are also classified into the following three categories: α alloys,(α+β) alloys and β alloys.China is represented by Ta, Tc and TB respectively.

 

 

It is a single-phase alloy composed of α phase solid solution, whether at general temperature or at higher practical application temperature, is α phase, stable structure, wear resistance is higher than pure titanium, oxidation resistance is strong.At the temperature of 500℃ ~ 600℃, it still maintains its strength and creep resistance, but can not be strengthened by heat treatment, and the strength is not high at room temperature.
 
 
It is β-phase solid solution composed of single-phase alloy, titanium alloy is not heat treatment that has a higher strength, quenching, aging after the alloy is further strengthened, the room temperature strength can reach 1372 ~ 1666 MPa;But the thermal stability is poor, should not be used at high temperature.
 
It is a double-phase alloy, has good comprehensive properties, good structure stability, good toughness, plasticity and high temperature deformation properties, can be better for hot pressure processing, quenching, aging to make the alloy strong titanium alloy weaponization.The strength after heat treatment is about 50% higher than that of annealing state.High strength at high temperature, can work at 400℃ ~ 500℃ for a long time, its thermal stability is inferior to α titanium alloy.Three kinds of titanium alloy in common use is α titanium alloy and α+β titanium alloy;The machinability of α titanium alloy, α+β titanium alloy is next, β titanium alloy is poor.The code name of α titanium alloy is TA, the code name of β titanium alloy is TB, and the code name of α+β titanium alloy is TC.
 
Titanium alloy can be divided into heat resistant alloy, high strength alloy, corrosion resistant alloy (titanium-molybdenum, titanium-palladium alloy, etc.), low temperature alloy and special function alloy (titanium-iron hydrogen storage material and titanium-nickel memory alloy), etc.The composition and properties of typical alloys are shown in table.Different phase composition and microstructure of heat-treated titanium alloy can be obtained by adjusting the heat-treatment process.It is generally believed that fine equiaxed microstructure has good plasticity, thermal stability and fatigue strength.The needle-like structure has higher rupture strength, creep strength and fracture toughness.The equiaxed and acicular mixed tissues have better comprehensive properties.
